Privacy Policy
In short
ClockWise does not collect personal information. Everything you enter stays on your own device, or in your own iCloud if you turn that on. We cannot see it. There are no ads, no accounts and no tracking.
1. What is stored on your device
To work, ClockWise stores on the device itself:
- profiles: a first name, a chosen picture, and whether the profile uses the kids or the grown-up view;
- progress: activities played, scores, stars, streaks, achievements and the daily challenge;
- settings, such as sound, read-aloud and reminders;
- in class mode: the class name, the names and pictures of students and their progress, and the teacher code. Only a hashed form of that code is stored, never the code itself.
This information does not leave the device, except in the cases below that you choose yourself.
2. iCloud (optional)
If iCloud sync is on, the family profile's progress is saved in your own iCloud account so it appears on your other devices. This goes through Apple; we have no access to it. Student data in class mode is never sent to iCloud. Turn it off in Settings › Parents and teachers › Privacy.
3. Camera
The camera is only used when you open a feature that needs it, such as the Clock scanner. Images are analyzed on the device to recognize a clock. No photos or videos are stored or sent. You can turn camera access off at any time in the Settings app of your iPhone or iPad.
4. Face ID and passcode
If a teacher forgets the teacher code, they can choose a new one after confirming with Face ID, Touch ID or the device passcode. iOS performs that check; ClockWise only learns whether it succeeded and never sees face or fingerprint data.
5. Notifications
Practice reminders are local notifications scheduled by the device itself. Nothing goes through a server.
6. Purchases
ClockWise Premium and the Classroom license are subscriptions bought through the App Store. Apple handles the payment. ClockWise only learns whether a subscription is active, not your name, address or payment details. Manage or cancel in Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions.
7. Sharing
You can share a result card or a PDF report. This only happens when you choose to, through the iOS share sheet, and only with the app or person you pick. On kids profiles a parent first solves a short math question. The card shows only the first name.
8. Apple Watch and widget
The widget and the Watch app show your streak, today's challenge and the name of the player. This information only moves between the app, the widget and your own Apple Watch.
9. Anonymous statistics
With the "Anonymous statistics" setting, the app counts which parts are used, without names or other personal information. This stays on the device and is not sent to us or anyone else. Turn it off in Settings › Parents and teachers › Privacy.
10. No ads, no tracking, no third parties
ClockWise has no advertising, no third-party analytics or tracking, and no links to websites for kids. Links that leave the app, such as sharing or opening the Settings app, are behind a parental gate on kids profiles.
11. Children
ClockWise is made for children. Because we collect no personal information, we store no children's data on any server. The same applies to parents and teachers. ClockWise is designed to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
12. Deleting data
- One profile's progress: Settings › Parents and teachers › "Erase … progress".
- A student: Class › Student › "Remove … from the class".
- Everything: delete the app. If you use iCloud sync, also delete the ClockWise data in your iCloud settings.
13. Changes and contact
If this policy changes, we post the new version on this page with a new date. Questions? Email appinfo.derin@gmail.com.
